The World Bank Country Office in Zambia is looking for a highly motivated and organized individual to work as a Team Assistant in the Lusaka Country Office. The ideal candidate must be able to function effectively and covertly in a highly demanding, fast-paced, and culturally varied environment.

The successful candidate will operate under the direction of the Country Manager and assist operational staff working in the transport industry and other sectors with administrative and customer support, as directed by the Task Team Leader of various assignments. The position necessitates regular communication with other World Bank departments, the government, and other outside organizations.

obligations and responsibilities:

  • The responsibilities and duties of the team assistant cover a wide range of administrative and logistical tasks, including but not limited to the following:
  • Giving task team members some specialist support in a particular area or areas, such as task management, procurement, database management, information technology, editorial aid, etc., will help the unit’s work program get off the ground.
  • Boost efficiency and organization at work. Exercise the function of improving the quality of projects and other documents by ensuring that the institutional standards are followed.
  • Execute analytical tasks as occasionally required by TTLs.
  • Write standard letters, memos, and faxes using appropriate grammar, punctuation, and style, and adhering to the organization’s regional standards; Help with document formatting and editing for huge documents.
  • Create standard correspondence that complies with the organization’s requirements.
  • gathering, presenting, tracking, and reporting on pertinent information related to the team’s operational actions.
  • Attend meetings, write minutes, and make sure they are distributed and cleared on time.
  • Keep in touch with Tanzania’s Country Management Unit (CMU) and other offices, such as those in Washington, D.C.
  • Participate in the organization and planning of logistics for a variety of events, including conferences, seminars, workshops, and visits by World Bank visiting missions.
  • Respond to inquiries from internal and external clients and, as necessary, ensure that they are forwarded to the proper people to handle.
  • Keep up-to-date distribution lists, contact phone/address lists for projects/products, and deliver papers to the appropriate task team.
  • Keep work unit projects and other files current.
  • Assist team members and program assistants with project and office-related activities.

  • The chosen candidate must also be adept at composing routine communication, using filing and record-keeping systems, and possess the requisite skills specified below. The position calls for a dedicated team member with proven interpersonal skills, the ability to communicate and work well in a multi-cultural setting, and a willingness to ask for help from and pick up knowledge from more seasoned employees.

  • University diploma.
  • three or more years’ worth of relevant work experience in a comparable job.
