Background

All Enabel in Uganda projects feature an infrastructure component that may involve building renovation or construction, renewable energy facility installation (such as solar panels and biogas), equipment provision, waste management, maintenance, and climate change awareness raising.

In order to support the design, implementation, and documentation of renewable energy interventions, particularly in the solar power systems, within the Enabel in Uganda projects, Enabel in Uganda is seeking to hire one enthusiastic and dynamic individual to fill the position of Infrastructure Assistant- Renewable energy.

Kampala is the duty station, with frequent trips to the field.

Eligibility:

Only Ugandan citizens are permitted to apply for this position.

responsibilities and tasks

  • You’ll plan, carry out, and assess renewable energy interventions;
  • To mainstream climate action, you develop national renewable energy capacities;
  • You take part in the execution of studies using renewable energy interventions (such as solar panels, energy-efficient kitchens, biogas plants, and briquette makers).

required training and expertise

  • a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Energy Systems from a respected university
  • A plus would be postgraduate training in renewable energy or a related discipline;
  • 2 years of experience, with at least 3 months of that time spent working with renewable energy, especially solar Photovoltaic (PV) systems.
  • An asset is having knowledge of business research, feasibility studies, and resource evaluation for solar PV projects;

necessary knowledge and abilities

  • Knowledge of the solar PV and off-grid markets in East Africa is preferred.
  • ability to carry out research and record lessons
  • Ability to carry out change processes (experience with education, awareness-raising, etc.)
  • understanding of infrastructure design for climate change
  • Pro-activity is the simultaneous exercise of initiative and responsibility.
  • talents for cooperation, tolerance, and collaboration
  • excellent understanding of the internet and MS Office (excel, outlook, word, PowerPoint, Publisher)
