Position Description

Jubbaland State Health Project Manager Position Only Open to Somali Nationals

ROLE DIMENSIONS:

With three major region offices and an additional 11 field offices, Save the Children operates throughout Somalia and Somaliland. Programmatically speaking, Somalia is a sizable Country Office with a $100 million budget turnover annually, over 70 active awards at any given time, and over 650 employees.

The project manager’s primary responsibility is to offer managerial, technical, and coordination support to the project teams conducting emergency and development initiatives in the Somalian state of Jubbaland. The project manager will hold the budget for the health grants in the state of Jubbaland in cooperation with the program managers and the field manager and will play a significant role in budget management. Technical joint planning of the project interventions, oversight of implementation, monitoring of the intervention, aggregation of donor reports, stakeholder involvement, and budget management are key responsibilities of this role. Additionally, the project manager is expected to advance and disseminate best practices, record accomplishments and lessons gained from the project, and carry out project execution in accordance with Save the Children country strategic plans and MoH health sector plans & guidelines. The project manager would be expected to be knowledgeable about COVID 19 programming, emergency programming with a focus on AWD/cholera epidemics, and general abilities in humanitarian assistance. health and diet.

ROLE SUMMARY:

Reports to: Southern States Health Program Manager Field Manager with Technical Line Management.

Four program officers are directly under this post’s supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • An approved university degree in nursing, medicine, or public health. A master’s degree in public health will be helpful.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • a minimum of 4 years’ experience managing or coordinating a health program.
  • Experience handling complex emergency and development projects with INGOs in underdeveloped nations and/or IDP contexts.
  • experience in program implementation, fast need assessments, and scenario analysis.
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and improve the capability of staff through performance management.
  • outstanding capabilities in monitoring and carrying out coordinated emergency programmer tasks.
  • understanding of the health system in Somalia.
  • knowledge of clinical training facilitation, including IMCI, EMONC, and MISP.
