Position Description
The Finance Assistant is in charge of assisting IRC Kenya’s financial operations in adhering to IRC rules and regulations as well as donor compliance.
Responsibilities
transaction processing
- Assure prompt processing of all payments shared with finance by monitoring timely authorizations of payment requests in accordance with the demarcation chart’s permitted limitations.
- To guarantee that financial data is accurate, pay close attention to detail when processing payments.
- As per the advance policy, make sure all program advancements are recorded.
- Remittance advise for all completed vendor payments should be shared with the supply chain.
Banking
- perform banking tasks including collecting and depositing cash.
- Reconciling the Banks
- Prepare your monthly bank and cash accounts and submit them for approval.
Filing
- Keep all processed payments in a sequential, well-documented, orderly filing system (all files must have legible labels).
Cash flow control
- Check all of the bank statements frequently for any receipts or other odd items, and then report them to your supervisor.
- Weekly decision-making on financial needs should be based on an up-to-date cash flow statement.
Remittance of statutory deductions
- Make sure to pay PAYE, NSSF, and NHIF by the ninth of the next month.
- Make sure that by the ninth of the next month, all other payroll deductions (HELB, Life Insurance, and Pension) are sent to the appropriate institutions.

Qualifications
- University degree and the CPA II minimum are both required.
