Objectives and the mission
The global development network of the UN is known as the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). In an effort to eradicate poverty, safeguard the environment, and guarantee that everyone lives in peace and prosperity, world leaders endorsed the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in September 2015. A new framework for development, disaster risk reduction, and climate change is being strengthened by UNDP. We support nations’ efforts to fulfill the Sustainable Development Goals, also known as the Global Goals, which will determine the top priorities for global development until 2030. Early recovery and stabilization within the communities hardest damaged by the crisis have been a top priority for UNDP for a number of years, with the assistance of numerous donors, including Japan, Germany, Sweden, and the European Union. More recently, UNDP has committed to putting into action the regional stabilization strategy that was ratified by the African Union and agreed in May 2018 by the States Parties to the LCBC. In order to strengthen the trend towards a return and put orbit around an irreversible stabilization, quick actions are required due to the socioeconomic circumstances and the pervasive unemployment of women and young people in the intervention areas. The National Stabilization Window team needs a Communication and Reporting Assistant to work under the direction of the Project Coordinator, in conjunction with the entire team based in Maroua and Yaoundé, as well as with colleagues from other projects, to implement such immediate actions. Context
Since 2017, there has been armed warfare in Cameroon’s North-West and South-West Regions. Significant economic collapse, increased underdevelopment, suffering in impacted communities, and a breakdown in social cohesiveness have all been brought on by this conflict, in addition to the high death toll it has produced among both civilian and combatant populations. The Presidential Plan for Reconstruction and Development (PPRD) of the Northwest (NW) and Southwest (SW) Regions was developed in cooperation with the Cameroonian government and UNDP. The PPRD supports the government’s initiatives to end the issue at hand. In light of this, the UNDP has started recovery efforts in both regions. Through the three pillars listed below, this plan seeks to strengthen the institutions and procedures that support peacebuilding and resilience.

It will complement and reinforce present humanitarian operations. Therefore, the human, social, economic, and livelihood components will be the main focus of the Recovery Programme RP, which covers the first three years.

- The Communications Assistant supports the implementation of the office’s advocacy and communications strategies to raise UNDP’s profile and public awareness with partners, the media, and the general public, under the direction of the Programme Coordinator and under the immediate supervision of the Communications Analyst. In UNDP, the Communications Assistant encourages a focus on the needs of the client. The regional coordinators and the communications assistant collaborate closely.

The North-West region of Cameroon, one of the two regions affected by the anglophone crisis since 2017, has its capital at Bamenda. 366 kilometers to the northwest of Yaounde, the nation’s capital, is Bamenda. Before the crisis, Bamenda had a population of about 2 million and was a thriving, bustling city. Internally Displaced People have moved in large numbers as a result of the crisis. The primary industries in Bamenda are the processing of agricultural products such as coffee, basic food processing, handicraft, cottage industry, education (schools), tourism/hospitality, construction work, and transportation, which once flourished due to proximity and trade with neighboring Nigeria. Bamenda also enjoys a cool climate and a picturesque hilly location.
