Focus on Technology

The Nutrition Specialist will facilitate the international consultants or service providers on the integrated agriculture-nutrition aspects of the Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security Project (SAIP) and coordinate FAO’s Nutrition related Technical Assistance implementation. She or he will act as the point of contact between the RAB-SPIU team and the FAO Rwanda TA-SAIP team. She or he will serve as the point person for activities relating to commerce and food safety in the FAO-Rwanda Country Offices.

duties and obligations

  • Utilizing the recently developed nutrition mainstreaming approach, work closely with the SPIU team to ensure that integrated agriculture-nutrition is mainstreamed in all SAIP operations.
  • By assessing the SAIP M&E system and suggesting adjustments where necessary, make sure that nutritional outcomes are recorded.
  • Together with the TA-SAIP team leader, take the lead and oversee TA-SAIP progress on output 2.
  • Together with the TA-SAIP team leader, plan project assessments at the midpoint and at the conclusion.
  • In accordance with continuing efforts to mainstream nutrition in extension materials, improve collaboration and consultation with RAB, development partners, and other stakeholders when designing training materials.
  • Conduct an evaluation of the extension officers’ capacity needs.
  • Support front-line extension service providers with technical guidance, mentorship, and coaching on integrated nutrition-sensitive agriculture.
  • Ensure that projects to assess phytosanitary capabilities and food control are successfully implemented.
  • carry out further related tasks as directed by your managers or FAOR.

The following criteria will be used to evaluate candidates.

Minimum Conditions

  • a master’s degree in a relevant discipline, such as public health, development studies, or human nutrition.
  • experience in themes relevant to promoting food security and nutrition for at least seven years.
  • Knowledge in French or any other UN language, as well as fluency in both, would be advantageous.
  • Rwandan citizenship.
