Position Description

Job Overview: The Interpreter delivers in-person and/or remote interpretation to assist Limited English Proficient (LEP) clients and their service providers with their linguistic requirements while maintaining accuracy, objectivity, and confidentiality. Professional interpretation services, using software to track assignments, and sporadic trainings and assessments are all activities.

Significant Duties:

  • Among others, but not exclusively, responsibilities are:
  • Assist LEP people and service providers with accurate, unbiased, and private interpretation in a range of settings, including clinics, hospitals, schools, community-based groups, and governmental organizations. Services may be provided over the phone, through a videoconference, in person, or through other technology.
  • Utilize the designated software to keep track of assignments and working hours.
  • Participate in assessments and trainings.

Task Requirements:

Qualifications in Education:

  • Strong preference for high school diploma.
  • Preferably with certification in interpretation.

Work Experience

  • Experience in working as a professional interpreter is preferred.
  • Strong preference for previous experience dealing with immigrant and/or refugee communities.

Demonstrated Competencies & Skills:

  • Ability to establish trust with customers, colleagues, and partners; cultural awareness.
  • proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Russian and/or Ukrainian speaking ability is essential.
  • precision and attention to detail in work output.
  • Microsoft Office computer basics.
  • dependable transportation to and from appointments.

Working Conditions:

  • To carry out the obligations mentioned above, a combination of a regular office setting, remote work, and “field” time in the service delivery area is required.
  • Occasional weekend and/or nighttime work may be necessary.
