Regarding the role

By overseeing the whole grant cycle, developing strategic alliances, and securing money to support our clean cooking projects, the Head of Strategic alliances and Grants will be essential in advancing BURN’s mission.

responsibilities and obligations

Partnership formation

  • lead the creation of strategic international alliances for clean cooking.
  • Close relationship management support should be given, along with regular check-ins with important stakeholders from various organizations.
  • Find and create new strategic alliances that are in line with BURN’s corporate goals.
  • pitching to outsiders while representing BURN in conferences and events in Kenya and overseas.

Design and development of pitch materials:

  • Work together on creating persuasive project and partnership proposals with the marketing team.
  • Maintaining and updating pitch materials is essential for landing partnerships and projects worth millions of dollars.

Strategic Initiatives/Projects:

  • Help the commercial team with the design, execution, and monitoring of key projects and activities across a range of geographic areas.
  • Organize and serve as a point of contact with the teams in charge of special projects and grants, commercial, carbon, and senior management at BURN.

Getting Information:

  • the market for carbon offsets, distribution partners, competitor activity, the aid and development sectors, and the clean cooking industry.

Reporting/Forecasting:

  • Create regular analytical reports and special research papers on important collaborations, company development updates, the state of the market, and distribution activity forecasting and reporting on a monthly basis.

  • Manage the grants team, offering direction and assistance in accomplishing departmental goals.

Grant Administration:

  • In charge of overseeing the entire grant cycle, which includes solicitation, pre-award, award, monitoring, compliance, reporting, and close-out.
  • To diversify funding sources, conduct research on and create a portfolio of donors.
  • Find new sources of funding, organize, create, and present grant applications that include budgets and deadlines.
  • Complete stewardship and follow-up on several grants and gifts to make sure donor expectations are met.
  • Manage the creation and submission of grant proposals, creating strong ones that support BURN’s purpose and the goals of the donors.
  • Present the essential supporting documentation to potential funders.
  • To reach financial targets, implement specific solicitation, cultivation, and stewardship plans for each award.

Experience and Knowledge

  • Master’s degree preferable; bachelor’s degree in a related discipline is acceptable.
  • 5 years minimum of experience in grant management, company growth, and relationship development.
  • a track record of success in obtaining funds and building key alliances.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • strong organizational and project management skills.
  • An advantage is having knowledge of connected markets and the clean cooking industry.
  • the capacity to act both alone and in a cross-functional team.
  • proficiency with databases and grant management software.
  • Availability to travel as required.
