Accountabilities & Duties:
The climate assessment of IFC investments across multiple areas and industries will be supported significantly by the Associate Operations Officer. Among the principal duties include, but are not limited to:
- Implementing the Paris Agreement: Working with industry departments and CBD partners to make that IFC investments are in line with the Paris Agreement’s goals. This comprises: · Assisting teams in completing thorough analyses of IFC investments in line with the Paris Agreement that take into account both climate mitigation and adaptation/resilience issues. o Creating and revising corporate procedures, operating standards, internal regulations, and IT systems to include Paris Alignment factors into IFC’s investment cycle. · Assisting in the creation of training materials and conducting training sessions for investment teams and other IFC departments on the Paris Alignment. · Participating in coordinating efforts to improve uniformity in investment assessments for the Paris Alignment with other multilateral development banks (MDBs).
- Reporting and documents: Creating thorough reports, presentations, and other pertinent documents to promptly and accurately convey progress, results, and suggestions to internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaboration and Teamwork: Contributing to a cooperative and welcoming workplace, notably through efficient teamwork and knowledge sharing with team members and other departments, especially those in the sector.
- Other: Participating in other tasks that the crew may occasionally be given as the mission changes.
Selection Standards
- Education: Possess a master’s degree in business administration, engineering, international relations, economics, or a related discipline.
- Technical Expertise: Showcase outstanding technical abilities with a minimum of five (5) years of full-time relevant professional experience, at least two (2) of which should be in a climate-related position. o Climate: Be knowledgeable in topics including reducing carbon emissions, climate change adaptation, and resilience. Practical knowledge of Paris Alignment evaluation for private investments will be seen favorably. o Sustainability Finance: Show that you have knowledge of sustainable finance tools such as green bonds, adaption financing, sustainability-linked loans, etc. Direct investment/banking experience and a thorough understanding of MDB investment procedures for private sector projects would be seen as being very advantageous. o Sector-specific expertise: Financial intermediaries, such as financial institutions and funds, are favoured if you have relevant experience in them.
Knowledge of essential climate change policy and market problems, notably those related to the Paris Alignment, should be demonstrated.
- Strategic Thinking: Showcase your capacity for strategic thought and offer original solutions to climate financing or Paris Alignment problems. Show proof of creating and putting into action strategic strategies and activities that have made a big difference.
- Project Management Expertise: Showcase your proficiency in project management, especially the ability to organize, plan, and carry out successful projects.
- Communication: Fluency in other languages is a plus, but great written and verbal English communication skills are a must.
- Team Player: Demonstrate the capacity to cooperate and communicate well with clients and coworkers from various cultural backgrounds. Work as a team player, creating a welcoming and constructive work environment.
- Flexibility: Show that you are willing to adjust to various jobs and broaden your duties as needed. Demonstrate your ability to thrive in a changing and dynamic workplace.
