Overview

An expanding, female-owned international development consulting company, Banyan Global, is dedicated to enhancing livelihoods through market-based methods to international development. The five practice areas covered by Banyan Global are youth, gender, economic growth, health, and monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL).

A Chief of Party (COP) is being sought for the upcoming USAID Rwanda Trade Facilitation Activity. Candidates from Rwanda are preferred. This post will be based in Kigali for a period of four years.

Responsibilities

• is the main point of contact for USAID in Rwanda.
• gives the Activity overall technical and managerial leadership.
• oversees the Contractor’s efforts to complete the activity in a timely manner.
• provides direction for the day-to-day execution and administration of the Contract to guarantee prompt, pertinent, and high-quality services.
• ensures that all activity tasks are finished and that the activity’s goals are successfully attained.
• oversees the performance of all employees tasked with carrying out the Activity’s tasks; ensures prompt, accurate, and easy-to-understand reporting on the status of all services provided by the Activity; and guarantees USAID compliance and the integrity of Activity operations.
• enables open communication and close cooperation with all Activity stakeholders.

Qualifications

• The COP must show that they have the relevant training and work experience.
• Technical, administrative, leadership, and communication abilities to match the aforementioned responsibilities.
• prior experience working on trade projects in Rwanda and/or East Africa that were financed by donors.
• strong experience working across East Africa in trade facilitation.
• Excellent computer capabilities, project management abilities, and English communication skills both written and spoken.
• either a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study and a minimum of fifteen years of experience managing international development activities relevant to the SOW, OR a master’s degree in a relevant field of study and a minimum of ten years of experience managing international development activities relevant to the SOW in the fields of trade, economic growth, and market systems.
• a track record of success in technical leadership and management of foreign donor support programs of comparable magnitude, with expertise in strategic planning, management, supervision, and budgeting.
• ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and the ability to build and communicate a common vision among varied partners.
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills are demonstrated in order to satisfy the Activity’s various technical and managerial requirements. The vision and advancement of the activity towards attaining its objectives must be presented to USAID/Rwanda, government representatives, and other stakeholders.
• perfect English.
• Strong preference for prior project management experience with USAID.
