Data management and international BI services for the aviation sector are centered and driven by IATA’s Business Intelligence Services. Data scientists, data management professionals, and aviation industry experts from Montreal and Geneva make up the team. The business analyst will work on an IATA schedule and MCT data collection program that has just been started. To ensure that all acceptance criteria are met in accordance with the product backlog, this position comprises creating the business requirements document, outlining business needs to the development team, and executing user acceptance testing with the product owner. The position is at the senior manager level. This position reports to the Program Head, Schedule Project and is a member of the Business Intelligence Delivery unit.

How a typical day would go

  • Assessing requirements and business processes to make sure solutions match company needs. – Clearly convert business requirements documents to user stories that the project team’s engineers can understand.
  • Produce process models, specs, diagrams, and charts to give the project team and/or developers guidance.
  • Conduct a gap analysis of the requirements.
  • Question the definition of the current procedure and offer fixes for practical problems.
  • Establish user story approval standards and choose which user stories will be a part of each sprint
  • Work with the vendor(s), business and technical SMEs to prioritize the product backlog and refine the solution requirements.
  • Together with the test analyst, define the business processes and test scenarios to ensure that the generated solutions will meet the defined requirements.
  • Examine test results and supporting documentation offered by the vendor and test analyst. Verify problem fixes and test findings, then approve and close user stories.
  • Track and classify defects, assign them to the proper parties, keep track of statuses, and, if users don’t supply it, fill in the technical knowledge gaps.
  • Controls and monitors requirements status throughout the project lifecycle. Communicates improvements, revisions, and changes to business needs.
  • Carry out UAT and end-to-end test operations and record outcomes. Till the prerequisites for acceptance are satisfied, monitor progress and problems.
  • Take part in sprint demos, evaluations, and review meetings.

  • Bachelor’s degree in BI or a related discipline to aviation
  • 5+ years of experience working professionally as a business analyst with a wealth of practical knowledge in solution creation and execution
  • knowledge of aviation data
  • practical knowledge of Jira, Confluence, and TOSCA
  • having knowledge of the Agile methodology
  • Having a business analysis certification – a resource
  • powerful analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Skills in planning and paying attention to details
  • a strong sense of ownership and a team player
  • the capacity to work under time constraints.
