Position Description

working under the Senior Nutrition Officer’s direction. The team leader and person in charge of carrying out the Emergency Grant Nutrition interventions on MIYCN practices on a daily basis will be the nutritionist. He or she will be in charge of daily data collection.

Important Responsibilities

  • In accordance with the nutrition officer’s plan, I will assist in giving out MUAC family videos to families in the designated locations.
  • Provide M2MSGs with training on MIYCN procedures in conjunction with the Ministry of Health during the Covid – 19 Pandemic.
  • teach and mentor families using the family MUAC approach, including CHEWs and CHVs.
  • Assist the nutrition officer in creating work plans for the tasks that will be carried out
  • Plan and carry out trainings for other mainstream health professionals on Growth Monitoring Promotion (GMP), IMAM, and MIYCN.
  • Provide counseling services that include nutrition support to people with medical issues, including clients of the Comprehensive Care Clinic.
  • Compile and submit weekly, bimonthly, and monthly reports of all the actions carried out for the donor and IRC Nutrition Program.
  • Ensure that grants are used diligently, including timely expenditure and value for money, and assist the nutrition officer in monitoring budget spending in accordance with the spending plan.
  • In order to obtain goods for logistical programs and to keep an eye on supply levels, coordinate with the supply chain department.
  • Help MOH with DQAs.
  • any additional tasks that the supervisor assigns.

Qualifications

  • possess at least a Diploma in Food Nutrition and Dietetics from an accredited university.
  • must be KNDI registered.

Experience/Competence

  • Implementing emergency community nutrition inside an INGO requires a minimum of one year of experience.
  • Experience with strong BFHI/BFCI techniques in maternal, baby, and young child feeding
  • knowledge of nutrition survey and evaluation
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation abilities, as well as the capacity for strategic thought.
  • Excellent computer skills and report writing experience.
  • Work in challenging environments; prior experience in a camp environment is a plus.
  • proficiency in Nga’Turkana is preferred.
  • Adaptable and upbeat personality.
  • strong capacity for planning and execution.
  • Negotiator, networker, and communicator who is self-assured and competent.
