About the Scholarship

These scholarships, which are given out annually, honor deserving students from all around the world, including foreigners who attend Canadian high schools. For four years, full housing support as well as tuition, books, and incidentals are all included in the Lester B. Pearson International Scholarships. How to become a Pearson Scholar?
- You must be nominated by your school and apply for undergraduate study at the University of Toronto in order to be considered a Pearson Scholar. Inquire about nominations from your school’s guidance counselor. You will receive a unique, secure access to the Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship application once you have been nominated and applied to the University of Toronto.
- Pearson Scholars are students who have shown extraordinary creativity and academic ability, who are recognized as leaders in their schools, and who have the potential to make future contributions to the global community. Their range of interests, intellectual vigor, and influence on the life of their school and community might set them apart from other students who may have achieved comparable academic success.

Qualification
To qualify for the Pearson International Scholarship, you must be one of the following:
- a foreign student, i.e. a non-Canadian who needs a study permit;
- current senior in high school or have graduated no sooner than June 2023
- beginning your studies at the University of Toronto in September 2024 (students currently enrolled in post-secondary programs are ineligible, as are students enrolled in another post-secondary program who begin their studies in January 2024).
Process of Applying
September 2023 marks the start of the 2024 Competition. In order to apply, you must:
- Obtain a nomination from your institution. High schools that haven’t been contacted or validated yet are urged to apply to our program, which will be made available in September.The following link High schools that took part in a prior year will have access to nominations beginning in early September.
- Apply to the University of Toronto(external link) so that you can start your studies there in September 2024, and make sure to submit your admissions application by the necessary deadlines(external link). Please be aware that you will be given the Pearson Scholarship consideration for your first choice of U of T program. The Pearson Scholarship, if granted to you, would be limited to your first choice of program at U of T at the time our scholarship decisions are announced. You may apply to many programs and be admitted to them all.
- You can submit the online Lester B. Pearson Scholarship application once we have received a nomination and you have submitted an application to the university. Once your school has successfully nominated you for the award, you will receive a private link to the application.
Deadline of Application
- Deadline for school nominations: November 30, 2023
- The deadline for student OUAC admission applications is December 15, 2023. (Please note that this is the last day to submit an application to the OUAC; while you may still do so up until December 15, 2023, it is advised that you do it as soon as possible. Prior to November 7, 2023, is the suggested deadline for admission applications because popular programs may close early and spots in them fill up quickly.
- The deadline for student scholarship applications is January 15, 2024.
