Concerning the Role

  • In order to fill the position of Electrical Engineer in our manufacturing facility in Nairobi, Kenya, BURN is now looking for a mission-driven applicant.
  • The development of BURN’s Ku niokoa Turbo products with stove tracking will be the Electrical Engineering Fellow’s main focus.
  • responsibilities and obligations:
  • Design, prototype, fix, and improve bespoke PCBs and sensor subsystems.
  • cooperating with suppliers to ensure prompt prototype and series production
  • Conduct studies of the electronics design in support of product development efforts.
  • Circuitry of current forced draft cookstoves is being tested and evaluated.
  • creating a thermoelectric generator-powered forced draft stove on a custom basis.
  • modifying the current stove tracker to accommodate biomass cookstoves.
  • Additional temperature and pressure sensors are being tested.
  • ensuring that the electronics in forced draft cookstoves adhere to global safety requirements.
  • Utilize the product.
  • Working on design for robustness and manufactureability with the product development team
    Creating electrical products through researching and testing production and assembly processes and materials; evaluating client requirements
    Electrical testing procedures are designed, finished items and system capabilities are tested, and this ensures product quality.
  • testing and troubleshooting electrical circuit hardware
  • keeping complete records of concepts, designs, drawings, and procedures
  • Dealing with fabrication and production providers to fix PCB design problems

Experience and Skills:

  • background in electrical engineering and practical electrical engineering, product engineering, or development experience
  • Electronics expertise, including experience with electronic systems, hardware design for consumer use, and hardware troubleshooting.
  • Printed circuit board design expertise (Altium, Proteus, KiCAD).
  • knowledge of programming microcontrollers (AVR, ARM).
  • IoT knowledge (TCP, MQTT).
  • knowledge about DC motors.
  • design expertise for low-power products.
  • Required is a strong understanding of how to interpret electronic schematics; circuit design skills are strongly sought.
  • superior organizational abilities
  • works effectively in a team environment with technicians and line workers.
  • Knowledge of sensors, sensor / PID controllers, or something like is an advantage.
  • An advantage would be knowledge of electric cooking technology.
