Position Description

BACKGROUND:

One of the top crisis response organizations in the world, the International Rescue Committee (IRC) helps those afflicted by conflict and natural disasters recover and rebuild by offering life-saving aid. IRC works to protect people from harm at home and is involved in public health, education, livelihoods, women’s emancipation, youth development, and the protection and promotion of rights.

Midway through 1998, the International Rescue Committee (IRC) was registered in Uganda. It carries out rehabilitation efforts in the areas of health, education, economic development, and empowerment of women, as well as helping to address the refugee crisis in Southern Sudan. In addition to having a main office in Kampala, IRC Uganda also operates regional offices in Kitgum, Karamoja, the West Nile, and the southwest.

Responsibilities:

  • coordinating the administration and storage of project-related materials
  • commodities such as medical gear and pharmaceutical supplies.
  • ensuring the accessibility of affordable, secure, efficient, and logical use of
  • pharmaceutical goods using various tools, such as SPARS.
  • strengthening the supply management process in accordance with MOH requirements.
  • Maintain responsibility and tracking for all medical and pharmaceutical
  • items and related materials that the medical facilities employ.
  • Support the quantification and forecasting of the supplies retrieved from the warehouse.
  • Support efficient distribution and storage techniques at both locations and the warehouse.
  • Create monthly reports for the donors as well as for the IRC.
  • Use and routine updating of the Pharma inventory systems like Rx solution that are already available.
  • All facility dispensers will receive mentoring and capacity improvement.

Qualifications

  • possess a pharmacy diploma from a reputable institution.
  • Proof of practicing license and active registration with the Allied Medical Practitioners Council.
  • at least two years of equivalent experience working for an NGO.
