OVERVIEW

Are you passionate about effective, scalable, high-quality programs for kids? Do you want to contribute your knowledge to a global movement that is energizing and energizing youngsters around the world?

The Program Officer – USAID/BHA will collaborate closely with the Field Technical Coordinator to ensure the project’s field livelihood activities are carried out. They will primarily concentrate on building the capacity of youth and women group in Palabek settlement. Through mentoring and training, s/he will increase the participants’ capacity. Working closely with consortium partners and other participants, s/he will actively address challenges relating to the development, processing, and marketing of skills for women and young people. In relation to livelihoods, the project officer will also collaborate closely with the leadership groups of both the host community and the refugee population (Sub County Agricultural Officers, Community Development Officers, LC, RWC). He or she would take a direct part in carrying out project operations in Lamwo. He or she will oversee and support Community Based Facilitators.

ESSENTIAL FIELD OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • In order to mobilize communities through the Community Action Cycle (CAC) and the introduction of Life Skills for Success, monitor and support community-based facilitators.
  • Support and control Facilitators working in the community.
  • Engagement, Networking, and Collaboration of Stakeholders
  • Encourage and support stakeholder participation at planning and development meetings, seminars, and other forums.
  • Help partners coordinate their efforts at the neighborhood level to carry out the agreed-upon action plans.
  • interaction with important stakeholders for creation of resources, learning, and influence.
  • In the absence of the FTCs, actively represent Save the Children in field-level inter-agency meetings.
  • Build relationships and engage with important business partners and government peers.
  • Cooperate and network with District Local Government, OPM, UNHCR, and other pertinent project stakeholders.
  • Knowledge management, reporting, and documentation
  • writes and promptly submits to his or her supervisor detailed monthly progress reports, detailed activity reports, and any additional reports that may be required.
  • Take the initiative to share effective approaches and document fieldwork to advance learning.
  • Create spaces and opportunities for action-learning by planning quarterly review sessions for communities at project sites to reflect on project methodologies, tools, impact of interventions, best practices, exit and sustainability strategies, and more.
  • Create excellent reports that include narrative and quantitative data as well as reporting on pertinent indicators and results.

You must possess or bring the following in order to succeed in this role:

  • Take the initiative to record and spread success/impact stories and best practices to encourage learning.
  • a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in agriculture, agribusiness, economics, forestry, development studies, or another pertinent field.
  • working with disadvantaged populations for at least two years; knowledge with humanitarian programming and its execution; experience in community mobilization.
  • An added advantage is having involvement in agricultural, economic development, and livelihood activities as well as community service experience.
  • Entrepreneurship, climate-smart agriculture, microfinance, and excellent agribusiness capabilities
  • a track record that demonstrates excellence, reliability, dependability, innovation, and inventiveness.
  • Self-starter, team player, and ability to work with little supervision.
  • effective at communicating in English both orally and in writing.
  • Speaking the appropriate local language(s) in the Palabek, Lamwo district.
  • devotion to the principles of Save the Children.
