Result of Service
The result of the services will be used to successfully support the Secretariat of the Ad Hoc Open-ended Working Group (OEWG) on a Science-Policy Panel on Chemicals, Waste and the Prevention of Pollution to ensure smooth delivery of the process and outcome from a communications and outreach perspective in the lead up to the second and the third session of the OEWG scheduled for Q4 2023 and Q2 2024. In addition, the consultant will support the development of secretariat updates, review and editing of documents, and creative web-content development.

Duties and Responsibilities
The UNEP Secretariat to the OEWG will be responsible for: 1. The organization and delivery of a stakeholder engagement plan in the lead up to the OEWG meetings to include webinar events, panel discussions, videos and surveys
2. Coordination of inputs from member states and major groups and stakeholders to the intersessional process
3. Under the guidance of the Bureau and Chair of the OEWG, develop informational documents on key aspects of operations of the new panel, to include, but not be limited to the scope, functions, operating procedures and governance of the new panel, as well as modalities around the provision of technical and secretariat support to the new panel, and related budgeting and resource mobilization.
It is foreseen that the consultant will support the Secretariat in the development and delivery of item one (1) above plus support the delivery of items two (2) and three (3) as required.
Qualifications/special skills
Advanced university degree in a field related to international relations, policy and governance, communications, economics, natural or environmental sciences
Working experience in communications and awareness raising Awareness of multilateral processes Experience in intergovernmental processes
Languages
Fluency in English, including good drafting/writing skills is required. Working knowledge of other UN languages is an asset.
