The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Information Technology Management office (ITM) in New York is responsible for supporting UNDP Country Offices around the world with Information Technology (IT) solutions. We seek to promote the use of the latest technological advances and solutions across UNDP to further our global impact on the development efforts of the international community.
Portfolio Management is an essential core team in ITM to ensure proper management of projects in all its aspects such as financial, supporting artifacts, planning, implementation, and reporting. The ITM PMO team also supports the Digital Governance Group, coordinate with auditors, tracks the IT Strategy Implementation, and handles the customer satisfaction process.
Our Unit offers a stimulating and versatile internship in an international environment with contact to various partners from some 166 countries with UNDP presence. We are a team who work in a dynamic and informal atmosphere, and we expect our interns to become vital members of the team. The position will be homebased and you are expected to work within EST time zone.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assisting in updating and following up with the KPIs and IT strategy implementation plan achievements
Assisting in customer satisfaction feedback follow ups process
Assisting with portfolio management updates and follow-ups to ensure a proper reporting to the governance group
Provide guidance to project managers when needed
Assisting in ISO processes updates and follow-ups with the owners of ITM processes and services
Ability to explore new tools to help in managing the portfolio and all associated data
Competencies
Project Management: Experience in project management methodologies (waterfall or agile)
ISO: Knowledge of ISO Standards mainly 9000 Quality Management System and 20000 Service Management System
Report writing: Has experience in drafting reports.
Communication: communicates effectively when working in teams and have a proactive attitude with a goal-oriented mind-set;
International Development: knowledge of UNDP global efforts and an enthusiasm for working in an international organization.
Collaboration: demonstrate collaboration skills in an international context. Showcasing teamwork and effective communication in contributing to our projects and fostering a collaborative work environment.
Required Skills and Experience
Experience with gathering, consolidating and analysing data from databases and reports is required;
Experience in MS Projects or SharePoint Online is required
Experience in using MS Words, MS Power Point and MS Excel is required
Knowledge in developing Power BI dashboards is desired
Interest in and ability to exploring new tools to improve the Portfolio Management
Fluent in written and spoken English is required. Working Knowledge of other UN languages is an advantage
Education:
You must meet one of the following requirements: You are currently in the final year of your Bachelor’s degree; or
You are currently enrolled in a Master’s degree; or
You have graduated no longer than 1 year ago with a Master Degree or equivalent studies in the field of Management, Business Administration, International Business, Development Studies Project Management, or computer science or related field; Bachelor’s degree with additional 2 years of experience can be accepted in lieu of Masters Degree.
Experience:
