Finance & Administration Specialist

Project Objective:
USAID/Mexico Resilient Civil Society Activity (RSA), implemented by FHI 360 and SI, is a four-year project (2021-2025) that will strengthen civil society organizations’ (CSOs) abilities to develop and apply evidence-based solutions to critical development challenges in human rights, justice, transparency, sustainable landscapes and crime and violence prevention. RSA will build on previous USAID and other donor investments in Mexico’s civil society sector, while also engaging new and emerging partners. RSA will employ a tailored, participatory, and inclusive capacity-development program focused on priority areas, performance improvement, networking, and local systems engagement.
Position Description:
SI seeks a remote Finance & Administration (F&A) Specialist consultant to provide technical assistance on specific financial and administrative project activities in Mexico; this includes accounting and finance activities such as: tracking payments, organizing financial and administrative documentation, developing monthly financial reports, and coordinating payroll and tax payments. The position is open to both Mexican and international candidates who meet the required qualifications.
Responsibilities:
With assistance from SI-HQ, the F&A Specialist will:
Support the program’s administration and preparation of monthly financial reports.
Conduct regular accounting activities and ensure proper accounting processes and procedures.
Track and prepare routine and ad hoc payments, accurately organizing supporting documentation.
Complete monthly project office expense report to include bank and tax reconciliation and recording payments and payroll calculations.
Prepare monthly cash advance requests.
Assist with fraud mitigation practices and ensure systems and processes are applied effectively to support the implementation of the award.
Support the SI-HQ Program Management Unit (PMU) with human resources tracking and maintenance of updated policies and procedures documentation.
Support logistics of events and workshops for project activities as needed.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field.
4+ years of experience managing, in roles of increasing responsibility in finance, procurement, contracts management, logistics, and/or human resource related matters for international development activities of similar dollar value.
Fluent written and oral proficiency in English and Spanish required. Must be able to communicate effectively in both languages.
Preferred: Knowledge of USAID financial reporting and compliance requirements.
Preferred: Prior experience in managing donor-funded procurement.
