Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated, experienced, NCD Ward Nurse for our NCD program in Maryland County –Liberia to participate in the daily clinical care of NCD in-patients at the JJ Dossen hospital leading towards improved NCD patient quality care and outcomes.
Objectives:
– To improve the quality of NCD in-patient nursing care, nutrition, health education, documentation & follow-up.
– To increase NCD screening and detection of NCD related Complications amongst inpatients at JJ Dossen hospital.
– To improve outcomes for NCD inpatients at JJ Dossen hospital.
– To accompany the health workforce in Maryland county with ongoing quality health care services for NCD in patients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Specific Responsibilities: Clinical Responsibilities
Providing nursing care, health education, nutrition counselling, treatment and follow-up for NCD in patients at JJ Dossen hospital in accordance to NCD nutritional and medical team protocols
Collaborating with other healthcare workers and hospital departments during the care of NCD inpatients.
Participating in the SCD screening project for newborn babies at JJ Dossen hospital.
Participating in other NCD in-hospital screenings & referrals for long-term care to the NCD outpatient clinic.
Ensuring proper documentation for all NCD inpatients into the EMR system.
Participating in NCD medical training for nursing students on the wards.
Examining patients following NCD Nurse Consultations.
Participating in ER admissions, monitoring & follow-up of NCD patients in conjunction with other health care professionals.
Providing clinical support to the NCD outpatient clinic & PIH staff wellness clinic as may be required.
Reporting to the medical doctors any problematic NCD cases & situations that may arise.
Participating filling of the NCD register, patient files & data collection as may be required.
Participating in NCD community programs as may be required.
Participating in generation of monthly and quarterly NCD in patient reports.
Programmatic responsibilities
Participate in the development of NCD protocols & IEC Materials.
Participate in the organization of NCD health awareness and prevention activities at the facility.
Document NCD program activities at the facility and report to the NCD Coordinator.
Assist with NCD program monitoring, evaluation and quality improvement efforts at the facility
Support the NCD Lead, NCD Coordinator and NCD nutritionist programmatic tasks such as operational planning.
Receive supervision and coaching from the CHT NCD focal person, NCD Lead, NCD coordinator, NCD nutritionist and other senior nurses (both MOH and PIH) in Maryland County.
Carry out additional tasks as determined by the NCD Coordinator & NCD Lead.
Qualifications:
Competency Profile:
The key competencies required for the position of NCD Ward Nurse:
Academic qualification:
University graduate in nursing and board certification with minimum of two years of nursing experience.
Technical Competencies
Confidence working in clinical setting with a variety of people, stakeholders & the community.
Experience working as a Chronic Disease Nurse or Triage Nurse is desirable.
Experience working in NCD related health projects either at the level of the ministry or CHT.
Experience in other NGOs and /or developing countries is desirable
Experience collecting and assembling data.
Basic computer literacy skills: must demonstrate competence in the use of MS Office Programs, in particular MS Word and Excel.
Behavioral Competencies
Ability to maintain confidential information in a professional manner, highly developed analytical skills.
Exemplary interpersonal communication skills required to interact effectively with senior leadership, partners, and clinicians on sensitive and confidential issues.
