Members of the Board include Helle Thorning-Schmidt, former Prime Minister of Denmark, Tawakkol Karman, Nobel Peace Prize Winner, Michael McConnell, Director of Stanford’s Constitutional Law Center, and may other diverse leaders and thinkers from around the world. The Board issued its first decisions in January 2021.

The Oversight Board Administration is the team of full-time staff who supports Board Members in carrying out their duties. The Administration has a presence in London, San Francisco and Washington, D.C., and operates with a global scope.

Role and responsibilities

We are looking for a leader to establish and evolve our cloud services and automation capability within our Technology Team. The key mandate of this function is to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization by optimizing processes, technology, infrastructure costs and learning paths to strengthen our engineering expertise. This role is part of the leadership structure of the Technology Team focusing on operational aspects including Infrastructure Operations, SRE, Security & Resiliency and Service Management.

The post holder will assume responsibility for delivering a best-in-class cloud infrastructure, working collaboratively with other members of the Technology Team and wider teams within the organisation to design and administer company-wide technology activities. The post holder will support the strategic development of the Technology function by developing and implementing improvements to the broader organisational needs including in controls, processes, systems and hardware.

With direct reports, the post-holder will have to display strong leadership skills and a flexible mindset. Understanding the ever-changing demands of operating within a small organisation, she/he/they will also be energised by operating in a dynamic and culturally strong organisation.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

 Delivering our automation agenda to create capacity and scale key processes to manage a growing client base
 Driving initiatives to increase agility, pace and capability across the teams and enhance our platforms and culture
 Owning IT risk management as well as Incident Management & Change Management
 Controlling infrastructure costs through the development of processes, policies and evangelizing ‘ways of working’
 Owning and managing relationships with vendors
 Owning and continually improving our Observability and Monitoring Framework
 Building Learning Paths to develop our global team of engineers
 Providing insights and metrics to detect performance problems and aid data driven decision making
 Self-starter and can work independently to deliver on the wider agenda
 Able to drive innovative thinking and challenge the status quo
 Managing and mentoring for IT Engineers and related capacity (at least 2 direct reports)
 Providing a leadership escalation point for major or complex problems
 Managing technology risks and working on mitigations and resolutions, providing input into organisational risk management
 Working to onboard new vendors looking at all IT and IT security perspectives, including our Third Party Assessment programme
The position will be based at the Administration’s location of London, however the role offers flexible hybrid remote working .

Skills and Experience

Successful candidates are liable to have the following skills and experiences:

 Substantial infrastructure services experience across multiple platforms
 Thorough understanding of IT service management with the ability to identify process needs & gaps and ability to create a service management framework
 Excellent stakeholder management, capable of delivering technical solutions to business (non IT) users 
 Own and drive service metrics
 Track record of delivering well engineered solutions using current technologies
 Thought leadership and understanding of current leading technology trends, able to drive innovation across engineering teams to improve ways of working
 Superb problem solving and analytical skills
 Experience with automating existing processes and streamlining the way teams work
 Be a great mentor and champion for your fellow colleagues
