ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT
The Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) is responsible for the organization and coordination of the work of the Telecommunication Development Sector (ITU-D) of the Union which deals mainly with ICT-focused development policies, strategies and programmes, as well as technical cooperation activities, to promote digital inclusion and drive digital transformation at community, country and regional levels. To effectively and efficiently serve the needs of ITU members, BDT is organized into four functional areas:

Partnerships for Digital Development Department
Digital Networks & Society Department
Digital Knowledge Hub Department
TERMS OF REFERENCE
Under the supervision of the Head of the Communications and Promotion Service, the intern will:
Work with the team to design microsites and web pages.
Convert designs into code.
Maintain/optimize existing web pages
Assist with web publishing using content management systems (SharePoint /WordPress).
Help deploy websites / web components.
Assist with other related tasks as needed.
COMPETENCIES
Experience in using WordPress, SharePoint or similar CMS System.
Basic knowledge of website design and development.
Good Designing, Image Editing Skills.
Good understanding of PHP, HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, XD and the ability to convert them into HTML5, CSS will be an added advantage.
Experience in using image processing/graphic designing software, publishing experience with CMS systems such as WordPress would be an added advantage.
QUALIFICATION REQUIRED
Education: A technical degree or diploma in computer science or software engineering with focus on web technology; or a fine arts degree / diploma with design and coding experience; or a graduation / diploma with experience in web publishing.
Experience:
No working experience is required.
Languages:
English at advanced level. Knowledge of another UN official languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) would be an advantage.
REMUNERATION INFORMATION
Unpaid internship.

Please note that a non-remunerated Internship position at ITU does not carry the same conditions of employment as a Short-term or a Fixed-term position. Mandatory Medical Insurance, travel expenses, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of the interns or sponsoring institutions.
