In 2023, the IRC was funded by the U.S. government to launch a labor-based complementary pathway to the U.S. that provides durable solutions for refugees while simultaneously responding to workforce needs. The Welcome Corps at Work (WCW) program uses private sponsorship, refugee resettlement, and economic migration infrastructure to help skilled refugees immigrate to the United States and give employers access to a new pool of qualified candidates to fill job openings. An evaluation will be done at the end of the three-year pilot.
