About the job

The ICRC Health Department is recruiting a Health Field Officer based in its Poltava/Kharkiv office. Health Field Officer contributes to implementing, running and monitoring the health programmes in cooperation with the health team, according to the objectives set out in the delegation’s annual planning for a specific geographic area or field of activities. Based on the skills required for this position, s/he has the capacity to oversee programmes with a degree of autonomy and/or deliver services with autonomy and contributes actively to planning and coordinating health activities at field level.

Start date: 03 January 2024 (in Poltava)

NOTE: The position is initially based in Poltava with future relocation to Kharkiv as of 1st of April 2024

Your Tasks and Responsibilities

Implement health programmes within his/her geographic area or field of responsibility/ expertise
Assist the Health Delegate in designing operational strategies and planning the health programme(s) at local/facility and national levels
Conduct assessments and regular field visits (when relevant) to monitor activities and health-related threats to the population
Ensure proper management of information collected and appropriate, relevant reporting.
Participate in analysis of and reflection on the overall health situation; contributes to realistic project proposals in line with the delegation’s objectives and priorities
Help organize meetings; advises staff members on various matters such as culture, politics, the economy, security, etc
Interpret at meetings and translates documents into local languages
Liaise and build networks with local stakeholders to facilitate communication on and coordination of activities, thereby ensuring more efficient implementation of health programmes
Represent the ICRC vis-a-vis national authorities

About you

To be successful as a Health Field Officer in the Health Department, you should possess the following qualifications and experiences and have the following characteristics:

Ukrainian citizenship or permanent residence permit in Ukraine
Flexibility to relocate to Kharkiv
Degree in medicine or nursing
3 to 5 years of total work experience (including 2 years of clinical experience) with minimum 2 years’ experience in the humanitarian sector
License to practice in Ukraine
Fluent command of English, Ukrainian and Russian
Computer Aided Design and general computer proficiency
Self-motivated with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principles
Flexible, enthusiastic, and willing to learn
Ability to work independently, as well as effectively under supervision
Confidence in managing projects and staff
Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks
Ability to work within a diverse team and establish and maintain good working relations in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, and multi-disciplinary environment
