Senior Legal Counsel

Key tasks

 Work closely with Blue Orchard Finance (BOF) investment officers, representatives of client financial institutions (FIs) as well as local legal counsel in various jurisdiction across Africa to oversee the development of transactional agreements and coordinate closing of deals;
 Prepare transaction documents in full compliance with all internal processes, the applicable laws and regulations and corporate requirements of BOF managed funds;
 Liaise with BOF investment officers, BOF legal department, and BOF risk team to develop and process amendments/waivers and other supplemental deal documents post-disbursement;
 Provide key support to the legal team in the day-to-day management of legal and transactional risk.

Required skills and experience

 Degree in law (preferably Master’s degree) and at least 5 years professional experience in a top tier law firm;
 Experience in legal documentation of debt and/or equity transactions; 
 Worked in banking, infrastructure and/or private equity;
 Total professional fluency in both written and spoken English is essential and fluency in French is a clear advantage. Additionally, fluency in Portuguese is desirable.
